Printer: part 2
I just got my printer set up in Linux just now (attached to a Mac Mini on my LAN, don't forget). Let's see. First I opened the Gentoo Printing Guide. Then I looked under "Setting Up a Remote Printer". Then I followed the directions word-for-word. I typed
sudo emerge -upv cups
sudo emerge cups</pre>
Then I changed one line in /etc/cups/client.conf to say
ServerName mini
Then I typed
sudo /etc/init.d/cupsd start
And then it worked. Why do people say Linux is hard to configure?
Now I can do things like echo "hello" | lpr.

Hi dude,
Remember a while ago you posted about your Eeelno Art 8? I recently acquired one also, but cannot work out how to adjust the strap!! I took it to a jeweller and he can't work it out either... You don't have any idea do you? :(
Oh, I know the feeling. It took me 3 jewelers before I found one who could do it. The one I found was someone from the clockmaker's guild, and he still had trouble.
The part in the middle with the arrows needs to be squeezed together from the sides, which will make the center bulge out some. I'm amazed my guy managed to do it without breaking the band or destroying the links. I think it takes a good deal of physical force to get it to work.

Ah, thank you! I'd got as far as using a certain amount of brute force, but then thought "no this can't be right" However, your links look exactly like mine and I guess that's the way you do it then. It's an awesome watch but the removable links are badly designed :S. I've managed to get the links out now so once again, thanks.
