Good thing they could all be blindly overwritten. The thought of etc-updating that many config files almost gave me a heart attack.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they even bother. The command is etc-update, not usr-share-X11-update.

Xorg options should be exposed in xorg.conf anyway, or at least IMHO, there should not be 96 files that are worth tracking in Xorg, all options that you change manually with a text editor should be in /etc, changes that have been made automatically through applications should be patched automatically.

I agree, I consider anything outside of /etc to be fair game for the package manager to edit and update at will.
